The deShazo Sports Medicine Clinic at University Medical Center was started in 2009 in order to serve active individuals and athletes with prompt evaluation and treatment of the various medical and musculoskeletal conditions they may suffer from and quickly return them to their active lifestyle.

Named after Dr. William deShazo, who was on the faculty of UMC and served as the Team Physician to the Alabama Crimson Tide under legendary Coach Bear Bryant, the clinic now serves as a focal point for evaluation and treatment of injuries and medical conditions facing all athletes and active individuals. Staffed by some of the top Sports Medicine trained physicians in the region, the deShazo Clinic is ready to serve the needs of the surrounding community. Whether it is for a pre-participation physical exam, or to treat that nagging knee pain, the physicians and staff at the Sports Medicine Clinic are ready to serve you.

The clinic is staffed by renowned Sports Medicine trained physicians and serves as a teaching center for Fellows, residents and medical students from around the country that come here to learn from the best.
