Cervical Cancer Awareness Month

February 1, 2023

Each year in the United States, approximately 13,000 new cases of cervical cancer are diagnosed and about 4,000 women die of this cancer. Certain types of HPV (Human Papillomavirus) are a leading cause of cervical cancer. HPV is a common sexually transmitted infection. Symptoms of cervical cancer can include abnormal vaginal bleeding, bleeding and spotting between periods and bleeding after menopause. Getting vaccinated against HPV, having regular screening tests and consulting with your primary care doctor can help reduce the risk.
