Honoring EMS Professionals

Last week was National EMS Week, held annually to celebrate Emergency Medical Services practitioners and the important work they do and lifesaving services they provide in communities every day.

This year, EMS professionals are also being recognized for being on the frontlines of COVID-19, caring for those affected by the crisis while still responding to the everyday emergencies that continue to occur in their communities.

The University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences, which operates University Medical Center, provides continuing education and updated technology to EMS personnel in West Alabama through its Emergency Medical Services Program. The program provides services in Bibb, Choctaw, Dallas, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marengo, Marion, Perry, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Sumter and Wilcox counties.
