University Medical Center pediatricians are urging parents to make sure their children are current on their vaccinations.
They want parents to know that going to the pediatrician and keeping well-child visits, even during Covid-19, is important and safe. UMC follows all recommended steps, and has taken extra steps, to ensure the safety of patients and families during this time.
UMC pediatricians are currently focusing on vaccinations for children in the following age groups – ages 4 through 6, and ages 11 through 12. Here are the recommended immunizations for each age group:
Children 4-6
- Diphtheria, tetanus and whopping cough (5th dose)
- Polio (4th dose)
- Measles, mumps and rubella (2nd dose)
- Chickenpox (2nd dose)
- Flu (annually)
Children 11-12
- Meningococcal disease (one dose)
- HPV (two doses)
- Tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough (one dose)
