UMC welcomes new physicians 

Dr. David Chandran, a psychiatrist, joined the Betty Shirley Clinic at UMC in Tuscaloosa. He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the College of Community Health Sciences and will teach the College’s medical students, resident physicians and fellows. CCHS operates UMC. Chandran earned his medical degree from Kurnool Medical College in India and completed two residencies, one in Opthalmology at Christian Medical College Hospital in Vellore, India, and the other at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. In addition, he completed a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry from the University of Maryland in College Park.   

Dr. Gabrielle Cordaro, a family medicine physician, joined UMC clinics in Tuscaloosa and Livingston and will care for patients at the UA Student Health Center and Pharmacy. Cordaro is also an assistant professor in the Department of Family, Internal, and Rural Medicine at the College of Community Health Sciences and will teach the College’s medical students, resident physicians and fellows. CCHS operates both UMC and the SHCP. Cordaro earned her medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine in The Bottom, Caribbean Netherlands. She completed her residency at The University of Tuscaloosa Family Medicine Residency Program, also operated by the College. In addition, Cordaro completed a family medicine obstetrics fellowship at CCHS.   

Dr. Dustin Marshall, a family medicine and sports medicine physician, joined UMC in Tuscaloosa. He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Family, Internal, and Rural Medicine at the College of Community Health Sciences and will teach the College’s medical students, resident physicians and fellows. CCHS operates UMC. Marshall earned his medical degree from the UAB Heersink School of Medicine in Birmingham, Ala., and completed his residency at Prisma Health Family Medicine Residency in Columbia, S.C.
