Pharmacy services on campus for UA employees

Pharmacy services are now available on campus for University of Alabama employees, and their families, who are enrolled in the University’s health insurance plan.

University Health Service Pharmacy, which is operated by University Medical Center, carries common prescription items and some over-the-counter medications. The pharmacy can fill prescriptions from UMC clinics, including the Faculty-Staff Clinic. The pharmacy can also fill prescriptions from outside health-care entities, provided the medications are stocked in the pharmacy.

In addition, the pharmacy can help patients transfer their prescription refills at another pharmacy to University Health Service Pharmacy.

“This is an important step in our efforts at University Medical Center to enhance the patient experience and to optimize the health outcomes of our patients,” said Dr. Richard Friend, dean of UA’s College of Community Health Sciences, which operates UMC. “We believe that pharmacy services are essential to improving medication adherence and to delivering a superior patient care experience.”

University Health Service Pharmacy pharmacists are available to provide free counseling to discuss patient medications and health concerns, or to recommend over-the-counter products to treat short-term illness that don’t require a doctor’s visit.

The pharmacy accepts written, call-in, fax and E-Script prescriptions. Refills may be requested by phone (205-348-6272) or through the Pharmacy Mobile App. Credit cards and Apple Pay are the only forms of payment accepted.

University Health Service Pharmacy is conveniently located just steps from UMC’s Faculty-Staff Clinic at 750 Peter Bryce Blvd., Tuscaloosa, 35401. Please use the entrance on the side of the building that faces the UA tennis courts to access the pharmacy.
