University Medical Center is continuing to see patients in person and via telemedicine appointments for sick, urgent care and follow-up visits. At our main location in Tuscaloosa, we have implemented procedures with the goal of keeping our patients and our employees safe.
As always, please call before coming in as a telemedicine visit might be available. We continue to offer daytime and evening telemedicine visits, which allow you to have a doctor visit via video or over the phone.
Patients coming to UMC in Tuscaloosa are being screened at the door closest to University Boulevard, under the covered entrance at the circular drive. When you arrive, please tell our staff what you are here for. If there is a wait, you will be asked to return to your vehicle, and you will be notified, via phone, when the doctor is ready to see you. This will keep our waiting rooms sparsely populated.
Those with respiratory symptoms or fever will be provided a mask, and for their visits will be seen in a separate, closed clinic.
If labs or X-rays are needed, they can be ordered before or after a visit, including a telemedicine visit.
We also ask that you don’t bring unnecessary visitors into the building when you come to your appointment. Patients can have one person with them, and the accompanying person will be screened for respiratory symptoms.
We want you to stay free from COVID-19 but also want to make sure your other health conditions are being cared for.
