COVID-19 Screening for Choctaw County, AL

Screening for COVID-19 will be available at the Fairfield CME Church in Halsell, Alabama, on Tuesday, June 2, from 9 am to noon, for as long as supplies are available. University Medical Center and the Office for Research and Economic Development at The University of Alabama, Alabama Power, Rural Alabama Prevention Center, and Go2 Foundation for Lung Cancer are collaborating to provide the screenings. Attempts will be made to screen all who come, but only those meeting Alabama Department of Public Health guidelines will be tested for COVID-19. The screening process includes questions about symptoms being experienced, such as coughing, shortness of breath and fever. Temperatures will be taken if people report fever during their screening. Testing will be done with swabs, but tests are limited, and test specimens will be sent to LabCorp in Tuscaloosa for evaluation. You do not need health insurance to be screened. When arriving at the Fairfield CME Church, look for signs and for the UA Mobile Outreach vehicle.
