Community CPR Classes

Hosted by University Medical Center

Performing CPR on a person experiencing cardiac arrest can double or triple the chance of survival. If you were called on to give CPR in an emergency, would you know how?

University Medical Center is hosting Community CPR classes for the public beginning in July 2025. Classes will be held the third Thursday of each month, from 6pm to 7:30pm, at the Northeast Medical Building on The University of Alabama campus (211 Peter Bryce Blvd., Tuscaloosa, AL 35401).

Classes will be taught by

Glenn Davis

A nationally registered paramedic with more than 40 years of experience providing EMT, Advanced-EMT, Intermediate and Paramedic training. He also serves as executive director of EMPACT of West Alabama, a nonprofit organization that provides emergency medical and community training programs, and he is director of the EMS program at the UA College of Community Health Sciences.

Travis Parker

A nationally registered paramedic with 39 years of EMS experience, including 27 years with the Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue Service, with 11 of those years as EMS division chief. He is also a program specialist with the EMS program at the UA College of Community Health Sciences.

The classes are provided at no charge, but registration is required, and class sizes are limited to 25 participants.

While there is not a cost for the class, there is a $28 fee for an American Heart Association certification card. In addition, those who need an American Heart Association Basic Life Support card should be prepared to stay after their class and complete proper testing and sign-off.

Don’t wait for someone else to step up. Learn and do CPR.
