October is ADHD Awareness Month

October 28, 2022

ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders of childhood and often lasts into adulthood. Children with ADHD may have trouble paying attention, controlling impulsive behaviors and might be overly active. The causes and risk factors for ADHD are unknown, but current research shows that genetics plays an important role. Although ADHD can’t be cured, it can be successfully managed with behavior therapy and medication, and some symptoms can improve as children get older. A healthy lifestyle is especially important for children with ADHD – healthy diet, daily physical activity, limited screen time and getting the recommended amount of sleep each night.
