Comanechi Clayton, CRNP, is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with UMC in Tuscaloosa and cares for patients of its Betty Shirley Clinic, assessing, diagnosing and treating mental health conditions. She received an associate’s degree in applied science and nursing from Meridian Community College in Mississippi and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Mississippi University for Women in Columbus. She earned a master’s degree in nursing, specializing as a psychiatric (family) mental health nurse practitioner, from the University of South Alabama in Mobile. She began her career in mental health as a registered nurse working in chemical dependency, geriatrics, adolescents and acute psychiatry. She is licensed in Alabama, Mississippi and Texas.
