University Medical Center in Carrollton, Ala., held an Open House Oct. 12 and welcomed community members and other visitors to the facility for tours and to meet its providers.

“This clinic is very important to this community,” said Dr. Richard Friend, dean of CCHS and a family medicine physician. “Now that the local hospital is closed, we are going to take incremental steps to continue to increase and promote quality health care in Pickens County. My goal is to deliver as many services as we can in partnership with the community.”

UMC-Carrollton is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am-5pm and provides services in family medicine, obstetrics, prenatal care, sports medicine as well as colonoscopy and endoscopy consultations. The physicians practicing there are Drs. Jake Guin and Catherine Lavender, and Rebecca Richardson, a nurse practitioner, also cares for patients at the clinic.

New patients are welcome at UMC-Carrollton, located at 289 Robert K. Wilson Drive, Suite C. To schedule an appointment, call 205-463-1350.
