WHAT SERVICES DO YOU PROVIDE?

University Medical Center provides comprehensive patient-centered care for members of the whole family and for the full spectrum of needs—from preventive care and wellness exams, to management of chronic conditions, to treatment for acute illness and accidents. We provide care in the areas of: primary care, including family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics and geriatrics; psychiatry and behavioral medicine; women’s health, including obstetrics and gynecology; and sports medicine. We also conveniently provide on-site laboratory and x-ray services, nutrition counseling, diabetes management education and mental health counseling for individuals and families.

HOW MANY LOCATIONS DO YOU HAVE?

We provide care from two locations. University Medical Center is located on The University of Alabama campus on the corner of University Boulevard and 5th Avenue East. Our second location, UMC-Northport is located at 1325 McFarland Blvd in Northport. Click here for directions to each of our locations.

DO I HAVE TO BE A UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA EMPLOYEE TO RECEIVE CARE AT UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER OR UMC-NORTHPORT?

No. We provide health care services for the entire West Alabama community, not just University employees.

HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

Make an appointment at University Medical Center by directly contacting the clinic or department you want to reach. See numbers of each clinic and department here. If you are not sure of the extension you need, call (205) 348-1770 for the operator.

DO YOU HAVE HOURS IN THE EVENING?

Yes. University Medical Center offers evening hours on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 pm to 8 pm for scheduled appointments and urgent care for established patients. UA employees and their dependents who have visited the Faculty-Staff Clinic at UMC are considered established patients.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?

We ask that new patients complete a New Patient Information and Consent Packet of forms, where we ask for contact and insurance information, consent for methods of communication, and acknowledgement of your rights and responsibilities as a patient. New patients may be asked to complete additional medical history forms or release forms depending on what clinic they will be seen in. If you are unsure what forms to fill out before your visit, contact your clinic directly for more information. Patient forms are also available in Spanish.

WHAT INSURANCE DO YOU ACCEPT?

I AM A UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA EMPLOYEE. CAN MY FAMILY BE SEEN AT THE FACULTY-STAFF CLINIC?

Yes. If your dependents are covered under the University’s BlueCross BlueShield of Alabama health insurance plan, they can also take advantage of the quick and convenient non-emergency medical care that we provide at the Faculty-Staff Clinic.
