ANGELA HAMMOND, CRNP
Angela Barron Hammond, MSN, CRNP, CDE, is a nurse practitioner in the Faculty-Staff Clinic at University Medical Center, which is operated by the College, and provides care for University of Alabama employees and their families at the walk-in clinic. She also is the coordinator for diabetes education for the Department of Family, Internal, and Rural Medicine and in that role, educates UMC patients about diabetes. Hammond received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Alabama at Huntsville and a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from UA. She earned a Master’s of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is a certified registered nurse practitioner in family medicine and a certified diabetes educator. Hammond provided health care from 1994 to 2004 in a rural health clinic in Grenada, Miss., and at a private gastroenterology and family medicine practice in Tuscaloosa before joining the College in 2006. She completed a fellowship in the Duke-Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership program in 2014.
