Faculty/Staff Clinic

Angela Barron Hammond, MSN, CRNP, CDE is a Nurse Practitioner in the Faculty-Staff Clinic at University Medical Center and the coordinator for diabetes education for the Department of Family Medicine at UMC and the College of Community Health Sciences.

Hammond provides care for University of Alabama employees and their families in a walk-in clinic located in UMC.  She also coordinates the provision of diabetes education for patients at UMC.

Hammond received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from The University of Alabama in Huntsville and a bachelor’s degree in home economics from The University of Alabama. She then earned a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and she is a certified registered nurse practitioner in family medicine and a certified diabetes educator. Hammond provided health care from 1994 to 2004 in a rural health clinic in Grenada, Miss. She also provided care in a dual position in a private gastroenterology and family medicine clinic in Tuscaloosa before joining the College in 2006.

She completed a fellowship as a member of the inaugural cohort in the Duke-Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership program in 2014. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, American Nurses Association, Alabama State Nurses Association and the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
