Jared S. Ellis, MD, is associate residency director of The University of Alabama Family Medicine Residency • Tuscaloosa and assistant professor of Family Medicine for The University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences, which operates the residency. Before moving to Tuscaloosa, Ellis practiced full spectrum family medicine in Jackson, Ala., and was an adjunctive professor with the department of family medicine at the University of South Alabama. His professional interests include diabetes, cholesterol and practice management.
Ellis graduated from Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s in biochemistry and earned his medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine at Birmingham. He completed his family practice residency at the University of Alabama School of Medicine, Huntsville. Ellis is board certified in family medicine and in hospice and palliative medicine. Additionally, he is a member of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, the Tuscaloosa County Medical Society, the American Academy of Family Physicians and is a current member and past board member of the Alabama Academy of Family Physicians.
He and his wife, Shannon, have three children. Ellis enjoys football, music, singing, hunting, fishing and yard work.
