Dr. Heather Taylor is an associate professor of Pediatrics at the University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences.  She is a board-certified general pediatrician with special interest in the prevention of obesity, newborn screening initiatives, and medical student education. She currently serves as the Pediatric Clerkship Director and as the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education for the Tuscaloosa Campus of The University of Alabama School of Medicine.

Dr. Taylor received a Batchelor’s of Arts in English at the Univeristy of Alabama in 2000 and earned her M.D. degree at The University of Alabama School of Medicine in 2004.  She completed pediatric residency training at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH, in 2007.  She is active in both the state and national chapters of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and is a member of the Alabama Newborn Screening Advisory Committee. Dr. Taylor has won numerous awards for her teaching of medical students and family medicine residents and was the 2012 faculty recipient of the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award.
