UMC welcomes new physicians

Dr. David Panting joined University Medical Center in September as a psychiatrist in its Betty Shirley Clinic. He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine with the College of Community Health Sciences, which operates UMC. Previously, Panting served as medical director of First Step of Sarasota, Inc., in Sarasota, Fla., medical director of the Manatee Memorial Hospital Department of Psychiatry in Bradenton, Fla., and as an adjunct clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pa. He worked in private practice and taught resident physicians at the Manatee Memorial Hospital Internal Medicine and Family Medicine Residency Program and the Centerstone Psychiatry Residency Program in Bradenton, Fla. His interests include addiction medicine, neuropsychiatric conditions, and general medicine and mental illness.

Dr. Natasha Mathew joined University Medical Center in September as a family medicine obstetrics physician. She is also an assistant professor in the Department of Family, Internal, and Rural Medicine with the College of Community Health Sciences, which operates UMC. Mathew earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kansas City University in Missouri. She completed her family medicine residency at Deaconess Health Systems in Evansville, Ind., and an obstetrics fellowship at CCHS.
